In an apparent lapse in judgement, Trevor St. John and Michael Easton have been added to the list of presenters
at The 37 Annual Daytime Emmy Awards in Las Vegas. A source close to the organizing committee said the
decision to invite the sometime actors was made "very late at night when everyone was just a little drunk...".
When reached for comment, Easton said he had not heard anything and believed the invitation to be a hoax but
added he would, "set aside a clean pair of underwear just in case." For his part. St John issued a press release
stating, " He had nothing to do with the incident and all other inquires were to be directed us to... his Memphis
based attorney's office".
Negotiations between The Emmy broadcast and Trevor St John and Michael Easton came to an impasse
yesterday when the sometime actors were informed they'd be presenting an award together. Easton claims he was
mistakenly misled by organizers to believe that he would be "appearing with Cate Blanchett" while St John was
told he would he would be introducing the accountants from Price Waterhouse. When pressed St John added, "I
don't know him (Easton). There's not enough time to do a proper background check. Safety should always be
our number one priority."
When informed that he and Easton had worked on the same show, "One Life To Live" for the past six years, St
John shot back, "It's Television. You can't believe everything you see." A spokesperson for the daytime show
confirmed, Easton and St John had never actually appeared together on set at the same time and all the "John"
and "Todd" scenes are achieved using camera tricks and body doubles.
The Daytime Emmys are June 27th on CBS.
